Edmund Morris is the author of The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, which won the Pulitzer Prize, and its widely praised sequel, Theodore Rex. His wife Sylvia Jukes Morris wrote the highly regarded biography of TR's wife, Edith Kermit Roosevelt: Portrait of a First Lady.
This and later Overbeck lectures were held at the Naval Lodge Hall at 330 Pennsylvania Avenue S.E., an intact 1895 Masonic temple decorated in the Egyptian Revival style. The lecture series was developed by the Ruth Ann Overbeck Capitol Hill History Project under the chairmanship of John Franzen. The series is sponsored by the Capitol Hill Community Foundation.
